Stage 6: Diamantina – Diamantina
Road connection: 0 km – Selective Section: 178.87 km – Road Connection: 25.42 km – Total : 204.29 km
The penultimate stage of the Rally Dos Sertoes — second part of the marathon stage — was not very long but varied and visited the most beautiful landscapes of the region.
While in during the stage Torres was victim of punctures and Oliveira rolled over, Carlos Ambrosio and Cadu climbed to the third step of today’s podium with their Polaris RZR 900XT + 40.
Carlos Ambrosio / Carlos Eduardo Piacentini Sachs (Cadu) N°204 — 3th in 2h55’03’ – 17th overall, 21h37’40 from the winner: “It was a wonderful day for us! The stage was beautiful, even if it had very difficult parts. The RZR 900XT +40 has an enormous potential, the machine has been steady from the beginning and until the end of the stages and it is very comfortable. I had to stop to give one of my tires to Leandro and that made me lose 2 minutes… I would have finished in the second place, but during a race you do not question yourself, you help your team members!”
Leandro Torres / Idali Bosse n°208 13th in 3h23’57 – 5th overall, 1h41’45 from the winner: “We didn’t have the right pressure in our tires at the time we left the bivoac of the marathon stage and we had two punctures. Then, for 150 km our radios inside the helmet did not work, which made communication quite hard. To finish the stage and avoid a new flat tire, we did not force to go faster to get to Diamantina.”
Celio Vinicius Oliveira / Pipo Mirone n°216 14 th in 5h35’24’ – 11th overall, 9h33’38: “I keep learning about the RZR 900XT +40… and I need to learn to keep a pace. At the beginning of the stage I was the fastest, and then I rolled over! We were lucky because we were able to repair and start again, but this time slower, to make it to the bivouac.”
