Stage 2: Caldas Novas – Catalao
Road connection: 46 km – Selective Section: 78 km – Road connection: 20 km
The Dos Sertoes Rally continues its road to the East and arrives to Catalao, home of the Mitsubishi Brazil factory.
The second special stage was planned to have 202 km, but the organizer was not able to ensure safety in a road that was not closed and had to cancel part of it. It was frustrating for the competitors that have only covered 235 km in two days. The start of the stage took place at Ipameri, the planned point for refueling for bikes, but for cars, this was a point to get rid of fuel excess.
The selective section was on a fast laterite track that lifted lots of dust. Disappointment is within the Xtremeplus team with the cancellation of part of a perfect stage for the RZR 900 TX+40.
Carlos Ambrosio / Carlos Eduardo Piacenti Sachs (Cadu) N° 204 – 7th in 57’36 – 5th overall, 3’326 behind the winner: “The track was slippery and you had to stay focused to avoid making any mistakes. I was not aggressive because we wanted to avoid punctures. There was lots of radar with 20 km DZ, mostly in the wooden bridges; it was easy to commit penalties today. We use a digital roadbook on a tablet, and that works well.”
Leandro Torres / Idali Bosse N°208 – 10th in 1h01’56 – 9th overall, 13’42 from the winner: “Today´s stage was too short, I am frustrated that I could not go for more, but I´m still glad about my day. I am also glad to be part of the Xtremeplus team, which is a veritable professional team.”
Celio VInicius / Pipo Mirone N°216 – 19th in 1h02’32 – 11th overall, 15’56 from the winner: “I was kind of mad because we got lost at the beginning of the special and we were in the dust of other competitors, which was like hell. After the navigation mistakes, I was penalized with 10 minutes for speed in a DZ area. I am frustrated because in two days we have done fewer kilometers than in a baja!”
